When you realize that you just deleted that all important file, and you didn't back your files up then you have a real big issue. Like I mentioned before you should avoid writing anything to your hard drive you lost the file(s) on, you probably shouldn't use the computer at all for that matter, because simply going on the internet creates cache backups of pictures, there are cookies being written and may other things going on behind the scenes with your web browser that is writing to your disk and could possibly overwrite the space your deleted file is sitting on. There is a program called DiskInternals Data Recovery CD. Do not download it to your computer, use a flash drive, external hard drive, or a friends computer. Once you download it, it will ask you to insert a blank cd. From there is will create a bootable cd drive with all the computer file recovery and hard drive recovery software you need on it. Once finished, put the newly created bootable cd into your cd tray, restart.
When restarting if you will ask you if you want to enter setup by pressing F5 or F8. When you do that you will see a menu that comes up, on that menu click the listing for boot order. Then make sure CD is the first on the list. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Then click enter. Your computer will start up from the bootable cd, and from there you can begin your hard disk recovery using DiskInternals data recovery software. It's not a big deal from there if you copy the file to your hard drive since you have the file you are trying to recover.
